We got a new truck! My little car has been good to me for the last 7 years, but Tyson's been driving it for the last 6 and we figured he had done his time.
In between fireworks on the fourth, Tyson and I loaded up the truck for the Manning Family Reunion in Idaho. We left at 6:00 the next morning. After a late night of fireworks we were all a little exhausted!
The reunion started at the Burley Cemetery.
Grandpa Cook helped the kids on a scavenger hunt for the graves of our family members.
From the cemetery we drove to the cabin in Birchcreek on the route of Grandpa Manning's cattle drive. We listened to a CD my Great Aunt Linda and Cousin Brandon prepared with stories all about the cattle drive.
We did all the usual activities at the cabin including skeet shooting. Tyson was a pro. He hit all three in a row.
The shooting crowd. Notice the storm rolling in...
The weather was crazy while we were there! One minute it was 100 degrees and the next it was a major hail storm! We probably had 3-4 hail storms in the one day we were there.
When we saw the storms rolling in everyone would run to the tents! Callan crashed out cold during one storm. Unfortunately it was at 5:00 and we had to wake him up so he would go to bed at night.
Four Wheeling
After one of the storms Callan's jeans were soaking wet from running in the wet weeds so I took them off and put a pair of my basketball shorts on him and wrapped him in a blanket. I really planned on him staying snuggled in the blanket...
But of course he wanted to wander around. And dance with his air guitar.
We got a special surprise before dinner. Cousin Robert Manning's wife and son brought some of their horses for the kids to ride. They had to wait patiently for their turn, but they loved it!

Delicious hot schmoes.
The second day we headed to the City of Rocks to hike Bathtub Rock.
Callan, Bricelyn, Aspen, Easton
Unfortunately, Grandpa's truck broke down and we spent the rest of the time getting it down the canyon and into town. Luckily Uncle Austin is one of the most prepared people I know.
Ford Tough!
It didn't end up exactly how we planned. We didn't expect to visit Kim and Austin's house in Twin Falls and mom and dad ended up having to rent a car to get home, but we all made it home safe and sound. It was a great reunion! We felt really bad having to miss the end! Can't wait to see everyone again in a few years!
