Accepted!

In case you haven't heard, Tyson was accepted to pharmacy school on Tuesday! We are so excited! He will be attending Roseman University of Health Sciences (Formerly known as the University of Southern Nevada) at the South Jordan Utah campus and will graduate in 2014!

I happened to check the e-mail around lunch time that day and there was a mesage from Dr. DeYoung, the dean of admissions. The email didn't even have any text in the body it just had a subject that read, "Please call me at (702) 968-2006 to let me know if you are interested in accepting /or declining an admission offer. Thanks!"

I knew right away what that was about! At first I just e-mailed Tyson at his work e-mail because inside the hospital he has no phone service and can't check anything on the computer besides his work e-mail. But after a few minutes of anticipation I decided to call into the pharmacy directly. They transferred me to the IV room where he was and when I told him he thought I was joking. Like I would call you directly at work and make that up? He finally just said, "Oh my gosh. I gotta go." And that was pretty much the end of the conversation! He stepped out and called Dr. DeYoung back and accepted the offer.

So...we were looking forward to him taking a semester off this fall and having some time at home, but our lives are about to change drastically! He now becomes a pharmacy intern rather than a technician and will just work whenever he can get hours at the three hospitals he works at.

It's gonna be a crazy life, but in 3 years it will all be worth it!

Home Owners

Well, we have been official home owners for exactly a week now and let me tell you - it is stressful! We are thrilled about our new town home and it is going to look fantastic when it's all done; however it was left by the previous tenants FILTHY and full of JUNK.

We spent a few days just cleaning out the place. Tyson and I spent 2 hours cleaning out the fridge (which they accidentally left:) that was covered in caramel. My mom spent 7 hours cleaning out the kitchen cupboards. We still haven't even touched the oven! And among all the other junk left in the garage like a broken TV, floor rugs, and boxes of crap, I found a big box of kitty litter full of poop. Thanks for leaving that for us. Who does that???? Yesterday Kelsey, Arlene, and I tackled the bathrooms finally (yuck) and Kennedi and Collette have been a great help bringing junk up from the basement, taking care of the boys, and peeling glow in the dark stars off the ceiling. My dad ripped out all the carpet upstairs by himself and helped a lot with paint. Steve, Arlene, and Hayden spent most of the day yesterday helping us paint the entire downstairs. Steve also mowed the lawn (aka weed pit) in the back yard and is keeping Round-Up in business. It's coming along nicely and I just can't wait to get the new carpet! (Shout out to Uncle Stan for getting us a great deal!)

We are painting in a few different shades of gray. I love gray lately and have heard that it's the new taupe. When it first goes on the walls it looks so purple! It freaks me out but I think once we get the carpet and furniture in it will look great.

Easton helped paint his own bedroom. He painted lots of circles and kept saying, "I'm being really careful not to step on the tack strips. I promise." Funny boy.

And since I haven't blogged for so long I should do some updates.

This sweet thing turned 6 months old on Sunday. Time flies! A week ago (the day we closed on our house and I also came down with the flu-but that's irrelevant) we quit nursing. For the last month Cal has had a really hard time nursing. It's been really hard because he would literally scream the entire time he was being fed. I knew from pumping at work that I wasn't producing as much milk anymore and it just seemed like there was something wrong. I almost wonder if it tasted different or something because he HATED nursing suddenly! I fought it for a month and now I am just done. We are much happier now and much less stressed. (As a side note just for the record, I had a much harder time getting rid of my milk this time! With Easton I took a Sudafed, went out to dinner, and woke up the next day with no milk. This time it took a good week and a lot of severe pain! Funny how things are different with different kids.)

The timing couldn't have been more perfect for me to quit nursing because on Sunday Callan cut his first tooth! It was on the bottom right -right at his 6month mark. And last night he cut his second! I felt like Easton didn't really experience any of the teething symptoms, but Callan has had all of them: ornery, slobbery, fevers, runny nose, bad sleeping, etc... So he should start feeling much better soon!

And what can I say about Easton. Easton is wild. He has so much energy it takes all 10 of us in this house to keep up with him. He is so much fun and so dang funny.

Last week he was really struggling. Not taking his naps and acting really out of control. One day Katelin was making some desserts and Easton found a huge brick of chocolate she was using and started eating off of it. I got mad at him and he stormed up the stairs yelling, "My mom HATES ME!" I said, "Easton that is not true. Who taught you that?" He said, "No one. I made it up. You hate me." Geez Louise. Not sure what to say about that.

Then the other day he was throwing this huge tantrum and we were all kind of ignoring him and he said, "You guys I'm having a hard time crying when you're all TALKING!"

On Sunday he crawled into Callan's car seat and pretended to be a baby. He sucked on all the binkies and even peed his pants 4 times just to keep up the charade. The best was when he locked himself in the pantry and peed. "Jama, I'm sorry I peed in your pantry..." Tyson wasn't home all morning, but the fourth time he peed Tyson was home and he let him have it. Tyson made him go outside and sit in his pee like a baby would have to and then made East take off his own wet clothes for his bath. Easton was SO grossed out. After his bath Easton said, "Dad, I'm not going to pee my pants anymore. Cuz babies pee their pants and I'm not a baby. We talked about that huh dad. Dad put your thumbs up. This is our secret high five. You're my best dad."

He's so wild, but he's so sweet. We just can't get enough of these boys and can't wait to get all settled in so we can spend more time together!

Haircuts, Draper Days, Parade, and a Wedding

We had another fun filled weekend! Luckily the week days were mostly un-eventful.

We ALL got some much needed hair cuts this week. Even Callan!

I have to admit I hated his haircut at first but it's growing on me.
I had to work Wednesday and Thursday. While I was gone Wednesday night, Easton fell off the patio table and face planted into the concrete. He had a pretty bad nose bleed and now has a huge bruise on his forehead (his third one in the last week) and a bad scab under his nose. Tyson took Easton and Collette to feed the ducks at Victor's Pond after the fall.

Easton has been spending some time with his new friend Madi Dixon. My family has been friends with the Dixons for years. A Dixon kid matches up with every Cook kid except for me. Collette and Kristen are best friends and Kristen brings Madi over with her sometimes. Madi is 4, but she and Easton play so well together! I need to get a picture sometime. When we went to watch the fireworks last night I started singing, "Baby you're a firework," and Easton kept saying, "Mom, that's the song Madi sings. Madi sings that." So cute. He's always talking about her.

Madi and Kristen came with us to Draper Days. They played in the bounce houses and rode ponies.
When Easton went to the dentist a couple weeks ago I was complaining to the hygienist about how Easton gets up in the night over and and over asking for a sippy of milk. She suggested that I get him one of these CamelBak water bottles and make it special for him. He's only allowed to have water in it and it has changed our lives! He sleeps with it and we no longer have to get up 8 times a night to get him milk! It has also been a lifesaver in all of this summer heat!
Saturday morning Collette participated in the Days of '47 Children's Parade with our ward. Tyson and I had a wedding to go to so Grandma and Grandpa Cook took the kids to watch the parade.

(Kelsey keeps calling Easton "Adolph" because of his scab. Rude.)

Cheeto fingers

We got to go see Tyson's cousin, Becca, get married. I love watching sealings!
While we were waiting for Becca and Nick to come out of the temple, Tyson spied Kyle Whittingham and got to play paparazzi for a minute.
Check out his temple "bag" aka metallic briefcase.
It's a good thing Tyson wasn't the photographer at this wedding because he nearly missed the bride and groom altogether because of Kyle. They looked so cute and happy.

It was an all day affair with the sealing, luncheon, and reception. And we got to do the final walk through on our house in between luncheon and reception. I know I've said this about a million times over the last few months...but keeping our fingers crossed to close Monday!

Some Summer Fun Stuff

Tyson has been working WAY too much lately! Saturday after he finished working we were able to go to the temple to help my mom and dad do a huge stack of sealings that my mom had prepared from our geneology. It took a lot longer than anticipated and the sealer said he wasn't able to finish the last 2 people! We couldn't help but wonder if those 2 people were sitting up in heaven going, "Are you serious? My card is on the table! It will take 60 seconds!" That will give us an excuse to go back to the temple I guess!

After the temple we felt like we really needed to spend some time with the boys since Tyson has hardly seen them lately. We went to Mulligans to hit some golf balls.
We were so excited that they had a lefty kids club for Easton! But he was not in the mood for concentrating. He spent most of the time throwing the balls onto the grass and playing with a tee he found.

We were glad Grandpa Cook could come too and help us perfect our swings.

Tyson with great form.

Easton REALLY wanted me to try hitting with the bucket on my head. I don't think it helped much:)
This summer we participated in a book exchange! It's kind of like a chain letter thing where you send one book to the kid in line #1 and you send the letter out to 6 friends. You're supposed to end up getting 36 books out of it by only giving one. I figured even if we only got one out of the 36 it would be fun! Easton got his first book in the mail yesterday and he was so excited! Thanks Aunt Mel for the invite!

For FHE last night we visited the Salt Lake City Cemetary. There are over 120,000 people buried there making it the largest city-owned cemetary in the nation. Although the weather wasn't really cooperating with us we tried to visit the graves of each of the 13 prophets buried there in between thunder storms. Each of us had been assigned a 5-minute talk on one of the prophets.

At Spencer W. Kimball's grave my dad shared a special story about when President Kimball came to visit the MTC while he was there. No one knew he was coming and no one thought he would be able to come because he was so sick. My dad had heard he was coming and had his camera out ready to take pictures. Someone from the MTC saw him and asked him to photograph the event. He went out to take a picture of the prophet getting out of his car and President Kimball walked right up to him and kissed him on the cheek and told him he loved him. My dad said that was all he needed to know - that the person who signed that letter that sent him on his mission knew him and loved him.

Another missionary happened to snap a picture and got it to my dad. This is a pretty bad picture of a picture, but I just wanted to make sure the story was recorded.

We are looking forward to a much less hectic week this week! Callan and I are fighting a cold so hopefully that goes away soon so we can enjoy some down time!

RIO

My parents took us to go see Rio last night. It was really cute! Tyson had to work, but the boys did really well! Easton just had to leave once to go to the bathroom and Callan was an angel as usual. He only slept for a few minutes and watched almost the entire movie standing up on his legs so he could see better. Such a cutie. We didn't exactly know it was in 3D until we got the tickets and the "dollar" movie turned into a four dollar movie.

Happy 4th!

We had a great 4th of July weekend! On Saturday Tyson and I both worked all day, but we got to meet up with my dad's side of the family in Provo to sit outside the Stadium of Fire. It was so fun for the cousins to play together. Easton had a blast running around and trying out all the toys his cousins brought (thanks for the entertainment!)

Tyson went to find the perfect location to get a picture of the jets as they flew over.

After a little while Callan started to get fussy so I rolled him over, gave him his binky, and he was out like a light. He slept through kids screaming, the opening fireworks, and even the jets flying over! He's such a good baby.
We packed everything up for a speedy get-away and watched the fireworks from a parking lot.
The kids stayed safe in the back of the Excursion. (You wouldn't believe how many kids were actually running around in the streets! The cops said one kid was bent down lighting a firework and was inches away from getting his head taken off by a car!)
The kids loved the fireworks. Despite Callan's terrified look in this picture, I think he actually enjoyed watching them. The kids all had glow sticks and made some glow glasses for my dad - haha.
Monday we had a BBQ in Payson. When we go to Payson it is always fun to hear Grandma and Grandpa Page reminisce about the past. One of the stories that you are sure to hear if you visit them is about the time when Grandpa backed out of the driveway and hit the garbage can. He pulled forward, picked it up, and got back in the car to back over it AGAIN! Everyone teases him about the story and last night we decided it runs in the family! Tyson drove right into the neighbor across the street's garbage can and knocked it over! Ok so he didn't do it twice, but he was going forward - so it's just as bad! He said he was just trying to nudge it out of the way. Lol.
Easton had a lot of fun playing with his cousins Ryan and Micaela.
The boys played a couple rounds of croquet. (Easton and Ryan were throwing pieces of the game into the tree in the previous pic:)
Grandma Page asked Easton if he wanted to hold onto a horse shoe to have his picture taken. He put it on the ground and stepped on it like a shoe. Haha.

In case you can see it (although these pictures are hiding it pretty well) Easton has a huge bump and bruise on his forehead and eye from jumping off the stairs. I guess he had too much momentum and ran right into the back of the reclining part of the sectional after he jumped. It was REALLY bad at first but it went down quickly. He was even bleeding out of the pores of his eyelid. Freaky.
This was pretty much his face the whole time he did sparklers - but he enjoyed it.
Great Grandma and Grandpa Page
Grandpa Page and Cal
We picked lots of cherries!
And ate lots of cherries!
We had a great time relaxing! Tyson and I even got to sneak away and go around the block a couple times on the motorcycle. We felt so free! We need to get out more.

(PS - did you know I still use the old uploader on blogger? Someone tell me how to fix this!)
