Callan

Callan is growing up so much lately!  He is walking really well around furniture and holding hands, but doesn't care much to do it on his own.  He could easily... but he doesn't care.  He loves to laugh at his silly brother. He can point to all the different animals and can find all the toy animals in his bath when I ask him, "Where's the tiger? Where's the goat?" etc... He loves animals altogether and has been saying, "Bella" when he sees her running around the backyard.  (Bella bunny).  He loves playing an animal sound game on the ipad and trying to mimic the noises.

(You don't have to watch the whole thing.  The beginning is funny, but I mostly just want to remember his cute personality at this stage.)

What else... he has 12 teeth and is working on some more.  His hernia is looking much better just in this last week.  He has been sleeping REALLY well lately.  Going to bed at 8 and waking up around 7.  It's beautiful.  He has had a thing for his daddy lately.  Doesn't like it at all when dad leaves for school in the morning.  He loves  Coke.  I mean really loves it.  We got some great looks (glares) from people at Costco as we let him chug the Coke down as we shopped.

He's just great.  We love him dearly.  He has such a patient and sweet personality.
We are so grateful he came to our family:)

Viva Las Vegas!

For Tyson's spring break we went on a trip to Las Vegas with the Page family.  We had so much fun!  A big thanks to Steve and Arlene for the fun trip!  We went shopping at the outlets, and Caesar's Palace, explored the Bass Pro Shop, did some gambling, and went out to dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and Mandalay Bay Buffet.

Easton brought home some "pinchers" from dad's crab at the buffet.  That might have been his favorite part of the trip:)
By the next morning, it smelled SO BAD he willingly threw them away.

The night we came home from the buffet Callan was asleep, but he woke up when we put him in his crib.  Tyson and I were planning to go do a little gambling that night (my first time ever) so we took Callan for a stroller ride to try to get him to sleep.   We were getting a lot of strange looks as we walked around the casino.  We thought it was just your average "why did you bring your kids to a casino" looks we were getting all weekend, but after about 20 minutes of walking around with Callan snugly in the carseat in the stroller with the shades down so we couldn't see him, we noticed a little bump in the top of the shade.  Turns out he had been standing up and peering out at everyone the whole time.  We got a really good laugh out of it and he was definitely not asleep.

Steve and Arlene watched Callan and Crew, and Hayden took Easton to the arcade so Amanda, Thomas, Tyson, and I could have a gambling date.  I had a lot of fun on the poker and roulette machines.  A little too much fun maybe.  I wanted to try a penny slot machine and Tyson told me how stupid they are.  I won $35 the first time I pushed the button!  I'd like to say I left with $35, but don't worry, we did come out on top by about 20 bucks.  We also had fun on the Deal or No Deal machine.

Another funny story - one morning we went to McDonald's for breakfast and Tyson left his phone there.  We went down the big staircase and when he realized he had lost it he had Amanda call his phone.  An old lady answered and Amanda went up the stairs to go meet her and get the phone back.  Tyson went with her and Easton went running up after them.  Thomas went running up to catch Easton and I stayed at the bottom of the stairs waiting for them with Callan and Crew in their strollers.  It wasn't 3 seconds before an officer approached me and told me I would have to leave because children weren't allowed to loiter in the casino area.  So I left (thinking it was so ridiculous) pushing both strollers to the waiting area at the Starbucks.  The whole time people all around me were talking about me.  The guy behind me thought I was super woman.  Thankfully, everyone found me at the Starbucks and it turns out the old lady who found the phone was Hayden.  So I got booted out of the casino with the babies all for his little prank!  So funny.  I'm just really proud that I never got ID'd the whole time.  Miraculous.

It was a short trip, but we had a great time!

PS: We spent the whole entire night up with Callan screaming last night.  I was starting to get really upset with him because I thought he was just acting naughty until about 3AM he puked like 3 gallons.
All over me.  And the couch.  And the carpet.  Such fun times.

This is so fun!

I have been loving this stage with the boys lately.  I find myself saying, "this is so fun" a lot.  Sometimes I am being sarcastic and sometimes I probably sound like I'm trying to convince myself (which I might be from time to time) but mostly, it really is fun.

I think I never posted the story about Easton's broken arm.  Maybe because I still feel some guilt over it.  He had been riding his bike the day before and dad said he was getting pretty good at it and could do it by himself.  So the next day while I was loading Cal into the car, Easton wanted to ride his bike for a second.  So I put him on his bike and gave him a little push down the driveway.  Well, he couldn't stop and when he went off the driveway and into the road, the curb tipped the training wheels and he fell off one side of the bike and landed kind of in a push up.  He cried and cried for about a half hour, but we were in a hurry to go take pictures for my cousin and pretty much told him to get over it.  He did and played and played all night without mentioning it again.  In the middle of the night he kept waking up (mostly because he had a bad cough which we later determined was being worsened by asthma) and every time he woke up he would say his arm hurt.  I was kind of delirious and didn't think much of it until he woke up early in the morning with a 101 degree fever and shaking really bad.  Luckily Callan had a well check that morning so I decided to just ask the doctor about it then.  Callan kind of got the shaft because the whole appointment turned into Easton's.  It took up hours of the morning getting x-rays, waiting for results, getting albuterol breathing treatments, etc...  Anyway, it was broken.  A buckle fracture to the right radius.  He got a water proof cast for Hawaii and wore it for 3 and 1/2 weeks.

Thursday he got it off!  He was so brave.

It was pretty gross and scabbed underneath.  He's been going around telling people, "don't worry it's just dead skin." But it's already looking much better.

Friday was a weird day.  A really fun day, but it made me realize how much my Easton is growing up.  Callan has been really sick with a nasty cold and hasn't been sleeping well.  Friday morning I put him down for an early morning nap and Easton and I went outside to shovel the snow.  Easton saw his friend Ben across the street, looked both ways, and walked right over there to play with him instead.  I was glad Ben could play because Easton had been wanting to play with him lately, but it hit me that he would much rather play with his friends than me!  He frequently tells me to just go away or leave him alone.  Sad!  I walked over there too and Lindsey and I tried our best to make a snowman, but every time we made a big ball they fell apart!  I guess that's just the way the snow is in March.

Easton stayed at Ben's for a while and they brought him home.  We had some hot chocolate with heart shaped frozen cool whip.

We waited for Cal to wake up, ate lunch, and went to Ikea.  I needed to grab a few things for some Pinterest projects (all those things were sold out because of all the Pinterest insanity) and I was going to have Easton choose a toy for his friend Gavin's birthday party.  On the way there he informed me that he didn't want to be the "picker" and that I could pick the toy out this time.  I knew where this was going.  Every time we go to Ikea he begs me to leave him at the daycare there.  Freaks me out to leave him with people I don't even know (I wanted to ask them if they did a background check or anything - but I didn't:).  After lots and lots of begging I decided to let him stay this time.  He had a blast.  And I can't say I didn't enjoy a little time to myself (and Cal) shopping.

We went home and had naps and I woke him up to go to his first birthday party.  So grown up.

I was so excited to pick him up from the party.  It was just weird, I felt like I hadn't seen him all day.  He played at Ben's, then at the daycare, then at the party...one of these days he's going to be at school!  It's just a weird feeling.

While Easton was at the party, Cal had a 102 degree fever so I made him an appointment.  We picked Easton up and went home and had dinner and took Callan to an after hours doctor where I finally heard the words, "His left ear looks awful."  I've waited over three years for one of my kids to have an ear infection.  Whether he was just a lazy tired doctor trying to get me out of there I'll never know, but I'll tell you I liked that answer a lot more than the one I usually get - "Oh it's probably just a tooth.  Good luck!"

Callan is doing much better since he started the antibiotic.  Here's to another fun week!
