Week in Review

Last Friday we went to the annual Eastridge Neighborhood Band party.  It was a good time as usual.  The kids ran around and danced and we caught up with friends.  Callan loved that grandpa was in the band.

Saturday some of my sisters participated in a temple walk called "Fit for His Kingdom."  They started at the Draper Temple, walked to the Jordan River Temple, and then to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.  I had to work, but Easton got to go greet them at the last temple.

After work we met up at my parents' for the late night BYU game.  Callan refused to sleep at my mom's so we were pretty much wrestling him the whole time.  

Sunday we had regional conference.  Considering it was at a different church than usual and we were in a stuffy crowded classroom, the kids really did great.  

Monday night we had a neighborhood block party.  It was a lot of fun!  They had lots of food, face painting, line dancing, snow cones, jump rope contests, and a photo booth.

Tuesday we had preschool at our house.  We learned about "D is for Dinosaur."  We made salt dough footprint fossils and dug up skeleton bones in the sandbox.  I think the kids had fun - not sure if they learned anything:)

Jump Around Utah

One of my friends got some free tickets to Jump Around Utah in SLC.  The kids had a blast!  The pictures pretty much say it all!

 Callan was sure a climber!  At once point we were taking a little break just sitting at a table talking and I realized I couldn't see Callan.  He had climbed to the very top of that thing!

The Great Canadian Adventure

Tyson and his friend Casey planned a weekend Canada trip a long time ago.  When it all began it was going to be a goose hunting trip.  But the geese were slow to migrate so they just enjoyed the nature and shot at whatever they could. (Trust me, I know that sounds completely counterintuitive.)

Of course the best part of the trip for Tyson was seeing {his girlfriend} Seth.  They have so much fun together and it was great for them to catch up.  Thanks to Rachel and Rachel's family for taking care of them for the weekend!  They had a great time!

Guess what?  He even took Max!  The kids and I played in the backyard all weekend and it was fantastic!  Tyson had a test right before they left so I thought I would take Max to be groomed so that they wouldn't have to ride around with a stinky dog.  While doing so, I found out that Max didn't have a current rabies certificate which was not only necessary for grooming, but for CROSSING THE BORDER!  So I literally spent all morning and a lot of money getting that dog ready to go!  My friend hit the nail on the head when she said, "You're either the wife of the year or you REALLY want to get rid of that dog!"

They saw lots of bears!  And got way too close for comfort.

They had a great time.  Shot nothing.  And spent way too much money on scratch off cards and lottery tickets during the long ride through Idaho.  Next time we're asking dad take the rest of us with him!

Golden Onion Days

Labor Day in Payson never disappoints!  We were able to go to Onion Days again this year.  Why on earth is it called that?  We headed down to Payson Sunday night and had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's.  We went to the band concert at the park and went home early to get some sleep.  The kids (and therefore we) did not sleep well at all, but it was a good idea in theory.  Tyson and Steve woke up early in the morning to golf at Gladstan.  I hear Tyson kicked Steve's butt.  Just sayin.  

When they got back we went to watch the parade with the Provsgaards.  They are so nice to always let us barge in on their family parties!  They gave us chairs, shade, and food - doesn't get any better than that!  Easton loves playing with Amanda's nephew, Kanon.

 Their favorite part of the parade might have been playing in the street the whole time.  They didn't even care about the heat!

 After the parade we went to the carnival.  Callan HAD to ride the horses asap.  I don't know how many times we heard, "yee-haw yee-haw yee-haw!"

We had great food, great company, and tons of fun! Hope we can do it again next year!

Nancy Drew & The Case of the Blue Play-Doh

So I was doing my hair the other day and I heard Callan screaming downstairs, "MOM!  MOM! MOM!" So I went running down to find him standing in a pile of blue play-doh.  My thought process went something like this:

How did he get the play-doh off the fridge?....Why is he naked?...His legs are stained blue....Oh my gosh it's poop... Why is the poop blue?....MY CARPET IS BLUE!

It took me a few good minutes of serious confusion before I remembered that the day before, Easton caught Callan sucking on a tube of blue food coloring gel.  I didn't think he had actually gotten any out!  Apparently he did!  It was kinda freaky.....and gross.

In other news...we went to Seven Peaks on Wednesday for the last time this summer.  We went from 4-8 and it was nearly empty!  It was great and the weather was great!  We had Pizza and Dippin' Dots and had so much fun.  The boys loved going down the slides together in the "alligator pool."

Thursday night the boys got to go with BOTH sides of grandparents to the Mark Wills concert in Payson.  They had so much fun eating ice cream bars and popcorn.  Easton loved that he got glow sticks to bring home.  They got to meet Mark Wills and he even gave them a guitar pick.  The only thing Easton was disappointed about is that he "didn't get to sit in the big red chair because it was for lost children."

 On Friday we went with Amanda and Grandma Page to Swiss Days in Midway.  Isn't that the cutest back seat ever?  

 Easton spotted a Batman bounce house the second we got there so that was the highlight of the trip for him.  We saw Tyson's Aunt Susan and her family, ate lunch, and had fun shopping around the booths.  

On the way home we got a call that Old Grandpa Page was in the hospital so we headed straight there and visited him for a while.  We spent the rest of the evening in Payson eating pizza and sushi.  I'm sure you can guess who ate what.

Saturday, the Knowltons were in town from Idaho so we played at Grandma Cook's with them and went to see Madagascar 3.  We determined that Callan is NOT ready for movie theaters and he and I left the movie and went to Walmart to get the grocery shopping done.  Easton loved it though.

Tyson went dove hunting all morning and evening.  It was nice to have a few hours of the backyard all to ourselves without the dog.  The boys played in the sandbox while I cooked dinner and it was lovely. We put the boys to bed and Tyson and I started preparing our primary lesson.  Easton snuck out of bed, saw what we were doing, and went to get his scriptures to read with us.  He asked me to find the story about Nephi building the boat so we read that chapter before sending him off to bed for the fourth time. 

It was a special moment. :)

And this picture is out of order because I can't remember what day it was, but I finally took a picture at one of many neighborhood pool parties.  The kids were all standing in a circle talking and eating their Otter-pops.  They are such good friends!
