Callan's Two!

Cute little Callan had a birthday this week!  Can't believe my baby's growing up.  We had a family party for him on Sunday.  It was a Coke party - one of Callan's favorite things in life:)

Callan loved all of his presents!  He wanted to play with each one as he opened it.
We had cherry coke chocolate cupcakes.  Easton was a great helper blowing out the candle:)

Callan is at such a fun age right now!  He loves everything and there's no better word to describe his personality than sweet sweet sweet!

He is not much of a TV watcher, but he loves Daniel Tiger lately.  I think it's because of the songs.  I had to take a picture of him just laying on the floor watching it!  This never happens with Cal!
He loves music.  Every time we talk about going to nursery he gets so excited to sing "hum beams" and popcorn popping.  His favorite song is still "Springsteen" by Eric Church.  He sings it all the time and wants it to play all the time.  He calls it "Wo wo deen deen."  He got this Dr. Seuss movie from Santa and loves to sing, "Daisy Head Mayzie." Has anyone ever seen this?  It's so cute when he sings it!  We all get it in our heads all the time!
Callan is talking quite a bit.  Whenever he wants something he says, "I hold that in my hand right now?"  He adds "right now" onto the end of almost everything.  "I'm jumping right now."  "I'm spinning right now."  "I want to go to grama's right now."  It's not in a demanding sort of way, it's just sweet.  He's been repeating his prayers every night which is so cute.  He's been telling everyone that he is three.  He loves to do everything brother does.  Loves to do his hair.
Loves to clean.  Loves to play with his "gump truck" and really all his toys.  Loves to dip his food.  Loves his books especially, "Brown Bear," "Things That Vroom," and "Down at the Beach."

He's just the best.  We love him a lot.

We've had a busy week!  Monday night we went to Chick-Fil-A with our neighbors.  We're so grateful to live where we do.
Tuesday we had some great reminders of Heavenly Father's plan at my Uncle Frank's funeral and Katelin's endowment.
Wednesday we had fun babysitting neighbors.
Callan's actual birthday was Thursday and of course I worked all day.
Yesterday Tyson took his concealed weapons course and the boys and I got some things done around the house.
Today we went to a shower for Kate and to Crew's birthday party.  It's so fun to have Cal and Crew be so close!

This week is wedding week!  Looking forward to lots of fun this weekend!

Happy Birthday Ty!

Tyson is 28!  He's so old!  With his birthday being right after Christmas and my sister's wedding coming up, we were so busy at the time of his birthday!  I wanted to have a party but couldn't find a time that worked for everyone.  My mom called and said their plans got cancelled that night so I decided to just throw a party together!  We had a sushi roll party!  Tyson loves sushi and I totally don't get it.  I made some non-fish rolls for those of us who are sane!  We had turkey bacon avocado rolls, cranberry turkey rolls, Vegas, and California rolls.
And it couldn't be complete without some Pinterest kid sushi!
He got some money from my family and we had a good time just hanging out.  The next night we went out to Mi Rancherito with our Payson family.  We were glad Grandma and Grandpa were able to make it too!  Tyson got a GPS from his parents so they don't have to worry about us driving around downtown LA ever again!

The boys and I are working on getting this picture blown up big for Tyson and making a barnwood frame.  He's been wanting it on the wall for a long time!
Happy Birthday Tyson!  We love you!

Croup Crap

There's Easton in the emergency room again.   The last time he was in was October of 2011 so we thought he had grown out of this croup crap!
I came home from work last night and we put the boys to bed.  We sat on the bean bag and watched our shows as usual.  We were hungry so Tyson made us some popcorn and just as we were digging in I heard the weirdest noise.  I told Tyson to mute the TV but before he could do that I realized it was Easton trying to scream.  He couldn't scream because he was barely breathing and it was so freaky.  Tyson went tearing through the house looking for Easton's inhaler, but it didn't help.  Lot's of times when Easton has had croup we have wondered, "eh should we take him in or not?"  This time the question was whether we should call 911 or not.

We decided because of the huge snow storm that we could get to the hospital just as fast as an ambulance driving on snow and ice.  (Looking back, the ambulance would have had the medicine in it so he would have gotten it a lot sooner had we called.)  We threw everyone in the car and took off. (I'm sure we seriously looked like crazy people).  Easton struggled to breath the whole time.  He couldn't talk, he was just wheezing and screaming here and there when he could get enough air.  Callan decided to join in the chorus and scream the whole way to the hospital.  I have taken for granted in the past, living so close to a hospital!  We are 20 minutes away from a hospital in either direction of our house and it's NOT a fun drive when you are making sure your child is still conscious the whole time!  He was white as a ghost when we got to the hospital although his breathing had improved slightly from the cold air.

The staff at the hospital was awesome.  They got us back there so fast and had a team of 5 or 6 people getting him all hooked up and getting an epinephrine treatment going.  His oxygen saturation was at 92% when we got there, but quickly improved with the epinephrine.  Grandpa Cook came to get Callan .  They gave Easton some dexamethasone and said we would need to stay and be monitored for 3 hours.  It was a long night and we were glad to get home to our beds at 4:00 this morning!  Easton woke up just like nothing ever happened.  He's currently jumping around the house telling me I am so mean and so wrong about him not being allowed to play with friends today.

I am feeling so grateful.  I can't imagine living in a time when there was no medicine available and you just had to sit and watch your child go through that!  Thankful for good hospitals, doctors, medicine, insurance, a good car to get us there in the snow, our helpful families, loving visiting teachers, and everyone's nice comments and concern.  We are so lucky!
