"Trick or Trunk" and Such

I can't believe it's already Halloween!  We have done so many fun Halloween things this month.  

I got smart and started putting things on hold at the library.  I guess that's the only way you can get a seasonal book there!  We read lots of Halloween books.  Easton's favorite was DC Comics Monster Madness.  We waited for that one for a couple weeks and he was so excited when it was our turn!

We also watched some Halloween movies like It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and The Adventures of Icabod and Mr. Toad (the headless horseman).

And we've been listening to the "Family Halloween" station on Pandora for some of our favorites: The Monster Mash, This is Halloween, and Pumpkin Head Harvey which Easton thinks is Pumpkin Head "Carvey."

We ate soup out of pumpkin bread bowls.  This was way more fun to me as a kid.  As an adult I just kept thinking it was a waste because the bowls absorbed all the juice out of the soup!

We went to Grandma and Grandpa Cook's ward's trunk or treat.  Easton calls it "trick or trunk."  He knows it doesn't sound right but can never remember the real name.

 The kids loved it.  Callan just can't grasp the concept of putting the candy into your bucket rather than your mouth...

The next day was our primary program.  The program went great as far as everyone in the audience knew.  But Easton was a pain!  He was licking my face the whole time! Ugh!  He did a great job saying his part, "we share," but the rest of the day was a nightmare!  I couldn't believe that after the program I still had to endure 2 more hours!

 Grandma Page got us a Vampire Mr. Potato Head pumpkin kit.  We love it!

 Last night we headed to Payson for Grandma and Grandpa Page's ward's trunk or treat.  We took some pictures of the boys before the party.  Callan wouldn't wear his mask so Grandpa did.  Earlier that day while I was trying to poke the eye holes through the mask I cut my finger so bad I thought I needed stitches!  My neighbor came over and we decided to super glue it and so far so good.  

The boys had a lot of fun at the party.  Callan was a cheeser.

Cornbellied

We got suckered into buying season passes to Cornbelly's on Groupon this year.  They were $20 so we only had to go twice to make it worth it.  We went lots of times and since Thanksgiving Point is SO close to our house, I could even run over with the boys for an hour before bed while Tyson was working late.  We had a lot of fun and got a lot of free stuff with our passes: hot chocolate, pumpkins, snow cones, kettle corn, corn cannon shooting, gemstone mining, etc...  

We went as a family for our first trip.  Callan loved getting in all the trucks and tractors.

 We spent three hours there the first night and the boys were soooo tired out!

On Friday night Aunt Kate and Uncle Trace came to babysit so Tyson and I could go do all the haunted mazes and stuff.  I figured we needed to get the full use of our passes.  We waited in line forever and decided afterward that we're still fun even if we don't go to haunted houses.  

Today we went with friends and kids had a blast!  It was much more fun than hanging out with mom and dad!

RIP

October has not been a good month for pets!  A couple weeks ago I got a call from Arlene telling me that their puppy, Hot, (who is Max's brother) jumped out of the back of the truck and broke his hip and had to be put to sleep.  I didn't know I even cared about the little guy until then!  Hopefully all of you reading this know me well enough to know about my anxiety issues.  I don't deal well with sad things!  I threw up all night and was sick all week over this little guy!  

 Then on Wednesday night I came home from work and we realized Bella had escaped from her cage while Tyson had gone to get her food.  We spent over an hour searching for her with flashlights and found nothing but a whole bunch of fur.  Not a good sign.  Thanks to all the neighbors who helped. :)

Of course that night was the first snow of the year.  We think she came home in the morning, but unfortunately Max found her first.  Of course Tyson was at school so I had to rescue her snowy body from the dog.  Ugh.  It was awful.  So I'm done with pets!  No more.  Max can stay {I guess} but that's it!  

Bella lived a good long life for a bunny.  Tyson got her for me for Easter in 2008.  My sisters were practically babies in these pics!
