Chicken Cheeks

Easton's favorite book as of late is called, "Chicken Cheeks."  I saw it on the shelf at the library and thought it might be cute.  When I thumbed through it and saw illustrations similar to this one with captions such as "turkey tushie" and "penguin patootie" my first reaction was to hurry and put it back on the shelf as fast as I could.  Then I remembered that I am a mother of silly boys and I had to have it.  It was an immediate success and now we can't go a day without mentioning it.

Easton also loves Dr. Seuss books.  Especially "The Cat in the Hat."  He loves to pick out the differences between the book and the TV show.  When I read the books, I still say Sally and "Nick" rather than "Dick."  Whose idea was that?  The TV show got it right on that one.

I think one reason why he loves Dr. Seuss is that Easton is a constant rhymer.  He loves to make up silly words and then rhymes 25 other words to go along with it.

Last week Aunt Kelsey took Easton to see "Seussical the Musical" at her school.  He loved it and sang the songs for days.  Apparently on the way to the show Easton was giving them all a good laugh with his jokes.

"What do you get when you put a crocodile and a hen in the blender?"
"Croco-doodle-poop."

Of course.  Why didn't I think of that?

Keep Calm

Poor Tyson has been studying for hours and hours and hours for these last two weeks of school.  It is beyond me why they had to schedule SEVERAL tests crammed into these last two weeks (I think I could teach them a few things about planning...) The first test is going on right now.  So cross your fingers, ankles, elbows, whatever - just please let him pass!  I'm not sure I can take much more:)

He's gone through a 36 pack of Coke and has sat at this table pretty much all day and all night.  He is extremely stressed and still finds the time to do little things for me.  This morning he woke up at 5 to study and left before any of us were awake, but he made the boys their chocolate milk and put it in the fridge so I wouldn't have to get up and do it.  He's the greatest and I can't wait to have him back to his normal self!

Also, when Tyson is stressed like this he gets a mouthful of terrible cankers.  They hurt so bad he can barely talk.  He uses Listerine, Peroxyl, and salt water rinses several times a day and can't function without constantly applying Orajel.  Any other tips would be appreciated:)

15 Months

Callan turned 15 months on April 24th and I've been putting this post off because I don't have a decent picture of him.  So sad that this is the best I can do.  He does love the garbage can...

Weight: 22.27 lbs - 42%ile
Length: 30.25 in - 17%ile
Head Circumference: 18.25 - 36%ile

Still climbing the growth charts from his tiny start.

He has the squattiest legs ever.

He is still such a snuggler and a lover.

He gives great open mouth kisses.

loves animals - especially dogs and birds

loves Coke with all his heart

says: mama, dada, ball, Buck, Bella, bug, baba, bubble, apple, and cheese

loves to play with his brother, even if he gets abused.

He sits in a big boy car seat now and the boys play the whole ride anywhere.  Easton snatches the binky away and they laugh and laugh.  Easton teaches Callan to talk.  "Callan can you say mmmmmmmmmm mom?  Callan can you say mmmmmmmmmm dad?"

loves to read books - especially about animals and particularly pigs

Callan can totally whistle.  We have to get it on camera.

He'll walk for special things like ice cream or grandmas.

He's starting to climb up on furniture to get things.

points to his ears when you ask him where any body part is, but eventually can figure out
nose, ears, and toes

He can find any bath toy animal if you ask him and usually tells you the sound.

Loves playing with the toy guns and makes a shooting sound as he points it.

He is a great napper.  Still takes a morning and afternoon nap and goes to bed before 8.  He usually sleeps until 4 or 5 before he winds up in our bed.

Overall he is such a great baby.  He is seriously so sweet and angelic - I don't know what we would do without him!  We love you Cal!
