The Graduate and the Flying Squirrel

This girl is officially a teacher.  I'm so proud of her for being the first one to finish college.

One of the great things about Kelsey is that when you ask her to do something, she delivers.  Like the other day I was running late for work and asked her to make me a PB&J.  Not only did she make me the PB&J, but she also had a Ziploc of Doritos and a CapriSun for me.

And when Easton asked her to make him a flying squirrel costume, she produced this in a matter of minutes.

Isn't it great?  We're not sure where the fascination with flying squirrels came from.  Possibly the PBS show, "Wild Kratts."  But, no, it does not refer to Gabby Douglas.  Although we have spent a fair amount of time watching "The United States of Captain America" in the Olympics.  We have mostly enjoyed watching swimming and gymnastics.  Easton thinks it is pretty much awesome that the divers get to sit in a hot tub when they're finished.  When we watch gymnastics he shows me all the things he would do if he were on a beam and makes comments that he hears dad say such as, "Last time I saw that girl she did perfect!"

Good times.

18 Months

18 months 15 days
32" long (30%ile)
23.4 lbs. (36%ile)

Callan turned 18 months old at the end of July.  We waited so long for him to go to nursery and he HATES it!  He screams almost the whole time.  Hopefully he'll get over it soon because it makes me feel terrible!  His teachers are moving in 2 weeks so I'm sure that won't help...

For the last few weeks Callan has been completely obsessed with going pee.  He thinks he needs to pee all day every day (yet has never actually gone in the toilet) and is constantly taking off his clothes, reaching into his diaper, and letting things all hang out.  It's a real problem.  I think next week I am actually going to let him go naked for a while and see if he might want to start potty training.  I don't know, we'll see.  Easton was this young when he started, but Callan's just my little baby!

Callan loves to do whatever Easton is doing.  He loves to read books in brother's bed at bedtime and pretend to go to sleep there, but freaks out if I play along and turn off the light and leave.  He loves his crib and binks and sleeps pretty well through the night and 2 naps.

Everybody thinks he's a fabulous eater - but I still struggle to get him to eat dinner most of the time!  Tonight was a huge fight!  I actually spanked that sweet little bottom cuz he refused to open his mouth and was spitting at me.

Callan can say:

pee no-no thank you (day doo) bee boat choo choo (doo doo) ma daddy cheese num num ball bumpa

And he sings along to our current favorite song, "Springsteen."

Smiles

It's been another stressful week at our house!  Right this very minute Tyson is taking an extremely critical test at school.  He had to retake a class that he didn't pass during the school year because of a ridiculous question.  Even common-folk like me can see that the question wasn't fair!  You don't even have to know the question...the answers were:

A. Not skewed
B. Positively skewed
C. Negatively skewed
D. Not enough information to determine

The teacher accepted answers A & B, but not D. Duh!

So Tyson's been more stressed than ever before because if he doesn't pass his test right now, he will not be able to graduate with his class.  He will be held back a year.  Fingers crossed.

In the mean time, thank heavens for our sweet little boys keeping us smiling!

Easton has been so funny lately.  I've been working a lot so he's been spending a lot of time with his grandmas and grandpas.  He was so excited to tell me all about the one-on-one time he spent with Grandpa Page.  They went to the dollar store (according to Easton they "snuck in" because it was closed?) then Grandpa let him ride in the front seat of the truck "not even buckled" to Walmart.  (Don't worry, it's in the same parking lot:) He chose two toys and they went home and played baseball "INSIDE THE HOUSE!"  It was obviously a great time.

Then the next night I asked him what he did at Grandma and Grandpa Cook's that day.  He said, "We went to that place - you know it kind of looks like a hospital, but it's not a hospital.  That place where the man rubs Grandma's head and then jumps on her."
Luckily I've taken plenty of trips to the chiropractor or I would have been concerned!

That night as I put him to bed I reminded him say his prayers and bless dad to drive home safely from work.  He responded, "Ya.  Cuz if there's a fire in front of him while he's driving, God will come to him.   .....................  or maybe Firefighters."

Callan has NOT been happy about Dad going back to school.  He has a total melt down every morning.  He clings to his legs and sobs and hyperventilates until I have to peel him off and take him to the window to wave.

Also, apparently Callan got into Aunt Cassidy's lip stain.  They spent all night trying to clean it off, but it was no use.

Luckily baby oil worked like a charm!
